Our research activities focus on the intersection of efficient intelligent systems and sustainable sensing technologies, exploring innovative solutions for future challenges and real-world applications. Our teaching and research efforts focus on areas such as Project-based Learning, Edge AI, Intelligent Sensors and Systems, Wireless Sensors Networks, Energy-efficient IoT and embedded systems, Battery-operated devices, Energy Harvesting for Smart Sensors, CubeSats and Sensing for earth observation, and Autonomous Robots.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the <strong>Smart Sensing and Systems Laboratory (S\u00b3 Lab)<\/strong>, our educational philosophy is founded on <strong>Project-based Learning<\/strong>, giving students hands-on experiences that bridge academic theory with real-world applications. Our research activities focus on the intersection of efficient intelligent systems and sustainable sensing technologies and embedded systems, exploring innovative solutions for real-world applications and future technology challenges. Specifically, our areas of specialization include the following:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Edge AI<\/strong> and <strong>Intelligent Systems and Sensors<\/strong>: We develop artificial intelligence algorithms optimized for execution on low-power devices and design sensors capable of autonomously perceiving and interpreting the environment.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Wireless Sensor Networks<\/strong> and <strong>Low-Power IoT<\/strong>: We study efficient communication architectures and protocols to ensure the connectivity and sustainability of large-scale distributed systems.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Embedded Systems<\/strong> and <strong>Energy Harvesting<\/strong>: Our research extends to foundational technologies, such as the design of embedded systems and the development of energy harvesting techniques to create fully self-powered smart devices.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cube-Sats Autonomous Robots<\/strong>: We design and develop Cuba-Sats for earth observation and autonomous robots for complex scenarios and industrial applications.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p
