Meet the Expert
Nelson Silva is a senior lecturer and researcher, leading the IT:U Extended Reality and Interaction Labs. His research focuses on developing eye-tracking support techniques and creating adaptive user interfaces, such as extended reality (XR) interfaces and visual analytics systems supported by AI. His work tackles challenges in continuously sensing user behavior and inferring potential interests to support analytical tasks. Combining computer science with medical research, psychology, human-computer interaction, and more, he aims to enhance user experiences.
Before transitioning to academia, he gained extensive industrial experience, including the implementation of product lifecycle management systems and digital twins, which further enriched his research and teaching. Additionally, he often engages in business development and establishes new collaborations to extend the impact of their work.
