Spiros Denaxas
Research group:
The Computational Medicine Research Lab at IT:U works at the intersection of computer science, health data science, and medicine. We aim to advance human health and healthcare by harnessing the power of large, complex biomedical datasets. Our research focuses on developing and evaluating data-driven methods and algorithms that uncover patterns, generate insights, and drive innovation in clinical practice and health policy. By deepening our understanding of the causes and mechanisms of disease, we strive to provide knowledge that empowers both clinicians and policymakers to improve outcomes for patients and populations.
Short bio:
Spiros is Professor of Computational Medicine at IT:U and Professor of Biomedical Informatics at University College London in the UK. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Athens Medical School where he teaches health data science for electronic health records research and Associate Director and the British Heart Foundation Data Science Centre where he leads the Defining Disease theme. A computer scientist by background, his research focuses on developing computational methods for analyzing complex biomedical datasets in order to improve our understanding of disease mechanisms.
