Christopher Frauenberger
Research group:
Christopher Frauenberger is interested in designing digital technologies with and for people within their diverse lifeworlds. His research takes inspiration from the social sciences, philosophy and design to explore alternative digital futures that are wanted, meaningful and sustainable. The work oscillates between practical applications in real world settings such as care or education and theoretical questions about the nature of our relationship with technologies such as artificial intelligence or robots.
Short bio:
Christopher Frauenberger investigates and designs interactive digital technology in a wide range of contexts with societal relevance involving groups who are often marginalised in mainstream innovation landscapes. His primary mode of scientific enquiry is through design and his approaches range from participatory to more speculative methods. Theoretically, he builds on philosophical perspectives related to posthumanism, to conceptualise our increasingly entangled relationships with technology, grappling with the moral, epistemological and ontological implications of designing alternative technological futures.
