Christian Hilbe
Research group:
Christian Hilbe leads the IT:U lab on game theory and evolutionary dynamics. He uses mathematics, simulations, and behavioral experiments to explore human social behavior. In particular, he is curious about what makes people cooperate, and how they engage in social learning. In addition, he is interested in how individual decisions give rise to collective phenomena such as polarization.
Short bio:
Christian Hilbe is an applied mathematician with a strong interest in the dynamics of social behavior. For his research, he uses mathematical models, computer simulations, and empirical data to make sense of human decision making. He is particularly interested in understanding what makes people cooperate, how they adapt their strategies over time, and how individual behaviors give rise to collective phenomena such as polarization. Prior to joining IT:U, he has been a group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology, Germany.
