Reassembling Bolts of Care: Another Talk on the Future of Technocare
Care is foundational to social solidarity, yet increasingly commodified within capitalist structures, notably through robotics. Reassembling Bolts of Care is a critical, performative exploration of these tensions. By staging interactive robotic performances, the project prompts collective reflection on how care—often exploited as a resource—can ethically intersect with technological innovation. Audiences are prompted to critically reflect on the integration of robotic care technologies into our shared human experiences, confronting the ethical, political, and ontological stakes of posthuman care. This project invites a dialogue about the hidden labor involved in robotic care, questioning the broader implications of outsourcing empathy and emotional labor to technological entities, and highlighting alternative frameworks for care that resist commodification. Video editing and live technical cues were supported by fellow Founding Lab participant Letta Shtohryn.
