Niklas Schmidinger
Short bio:
Niklas Schmidinger is a fourth-year PhD student from the Institute for Machine Learning at Johannes Kepler University in Linz. He is supervised by Günter Klambauer and Sepp Hochreiter. His research focuses on Efficient Foundation Models in Biology and Scalable Sequence Modelling. His paper “ML for molecules and materials in the era of LLMs” received the best paper award from the ELLIS 2024 Workshop. From 2017 to 2019, he was also a co-founder of Vinna Data Science Society, Vienna’s first student-led data science organization.
