Chenghua Lin
Short bio:
Bio: Chenghua Lin is Professor of Natural Language Processing in the Department of Computer Science, The University of Manchester. He also serves as the Chair and a Board Member of ACL SIGGEN (previously Secretary, 2023–24), and a Member of the IEEE Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee. His research primarily focuses on natural language processing and generation, machine learning, and their intersection. Current key interests include robustness in LLMs, AI for science, evaluation methods and benchmarks, creative text generation, lay summarisation, metaphor processing, as well as representation learning for music and speech. His work has been supported by various funding bodies, including EPSRC, ESRC, Innovate UK, Royal Society, BBC Connected Studio, BBC News Lab, Samsung Reasarch UK, and Nvidia.
