IT:U: Nearly 1,000 visitors during the “Long Night of Research”
Wow, what a night! On 24 May, 980 visitors took the opportunity to visit the IT:U Interdisciplinary Transformation University Austria and explore several exciting stations: A fictitious disaster exercise, which had to be mastered using VR goggles, was particularly popular that evening. Another highlight: an AI station where books could be scanned and the protagonists of the books asked questions about the story.
Another popular attraction was the semi-autonomous robot dog, which used sensors to navigate around the site and wave to visitors. In the robot lab, visitors were able to see first-hand how a collaborative robot system has been enabled by AI using machine learning to automatically recognise objects, pick them up and pass them on in a process chain or stack them correctly.
There were guided tours every 30 minutes, with the opportunity to ask questions and get to know the employees and management team – in particular founding president Stefanie Lindstaedt and managing director Gabriele Költringer. One of the most frequently asked questions of the evening was about the new programs at the Technical University: What can you actually study at IT:U, when will the doctoral school or master’s programmes start? What specialisations are there and what makes IT:U different from other universities? Questions about IT:U as an attractive employer were also a frequent topic.
“We are delighted with the great interest in the IT:U and the positive feedback we received during the ‘Long Night of Research’. They confirm that we are on the right track with our interdisciplinary approach and our focus on digital transformation,” says Founding President Stefanie Lindstaedt about the great success of the Long Night of Research.
