The disruption of industries by digital transformation is an ongoing phenomenon leveraged by the speed of development in data and computer sciences. Leaps in efficiency, quality, business and operating models are visible in every industry branch, some of them completely disrupted. These technologies will also be the key to resolving pressing issues like climate change, limited resources, aging populations, or global health challenges. Bridging Technologies in interdisciplinary approaches will transform Europe’s industry and secure its position in the industrial landscape over challenging times.
To pursue these tasks in the best feasible way, the limited perspectives and technocentric thinking of legacy teams in industry and technology must be overcome and replaced by diverse teams joining the views of various backgrounds and attributes, such as heritage, gender, social environment, nationality or culture. Researchers in a diverse and interdisciplinary setting will be able to build collaborations and partnerships especially with industrial enterprises.
