In this lab, students design, build, program, and deploy both stationary and mobile robots. Through project-based learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, they develop essential 21st-century skills to tackle industry and societal challenges using robotics.
Lab Persona
Each IT:U lab has a unique persona. Rob believes that as society shifts toward cognitive work, robotics will empower humans by taking on more everyday tasks. He is fascinated by how robotics can, for example, support people with disabilities, take on physically demanding or dangerous tasks, and drive innovation across various fields.
Hands-On with Robotics
The lab features a variety of robots working in teams, supported by control computers and a workshop for machine maintenance. Students engage with robots ranging from simple rolling bots to complex all-terrain rovers and multi-axis arms, gaining hands-on experience in sensors, actuators, control and power systems, and robot mechanics.
Project-based Learning
Imagine an agronomist and a mechanical engineer collaborating to develop drones and robots that measure soil composition across agricultural fields, enabling targeted weed control. Graduates are trained to tackle industry challenges using robotics, unlocking new business models in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and many more.
Meet the Expert
Meet Wolfgang — our Technology Strategist behind the ROB Lab. He helps students from diverse disciplines design, build, and program robots, turning ideas into real-world solutions for complex challenges.
