Short bio:
Elisabeth Staudegger works at the intersection of law and IT, with a focus on normative frameworks of digitalisation. She is an expert in IT law, data protection law and value-based regulation. Her research focuses on the legal and regulatory challenges of the information society and the use of technology, particularly in the area of AI governance including standardisation.
Professor Staudegger actively promotes the implementation of legal regulations and ethical standards in the development and use of ICT technologies, particularly in the areas of trustworthy IT, autonomous driving, learning analytics, ethical AI and neurorights. Her focus on the practical application of normative frameworks is also reflected in her involvement in standardisation efforts. As a legal scholar, she contributes to legislative initiatives through de lege ferenda recommendations. Through her interdisciplinary and international work, she strengthens both the development and implementation of legal and ethical foundations in new technologies and thus promotes value-based, responsible and transparent digital innovation. Her scientific qualities are reflected in invitations to participate in international consortia and conferences as well as in publications.
