Josef Strobl
Josef Strobl is a Professor of Geoinformatics at the University of Salzburg, Austria, with over four decades of international experience in geographic information science, education, and research. He founded, developed, and led the Department of Geoinformatics (Z_GIS) and has held several leadership roles across academia, including within the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Josef’s research interests focus on geoinformatics, spatial analysis, and digital terrain modelling, as well as spatial data infrastructures, geospatial applications, and GIScience education. His work also emphasizes geospatial capacity building, online learning, and the development of international research and education initiatives in the geospatial domain.
