F1RST Inaugural Lecture at Interdisciplinary Transformation University (IT:U)
- Prof. Johanna Ullrich, head of the research group “Secure and Resilient Infrastructures”
- Prof. Beatrix C. Hiesmayr, head of the research group “Professor of Quantum Information”
Agenda
5.00 pm: Welcome and short introduction by Stefanie Lindstaedt
5.10 pm: Lecture by Johanna Ullrich on: “Cybersecurity: Why It Matters (and Why It Fails)”
- Understanding threats for critical infrastructures such as the power grid
- Hacking popular communication infrastructure like WhatsApp and Signal
- Utilizing the Internet as a sensor for the war in Ukraine
5.45 pm: Lecture by Beatrix C. Hiesmayr on: “IT:U goes Quantum: From Computing to Applications in Medical Science”
- Quantum technologies hold enormous promise because their underlying principles differ fundamentally from those driving today’s devices.
- We are only beginning to master the preparation, control, and measurement of quantum systems, and early applications, such as quantum computing and secure quantum communication, are already emerging.
6:15 pm: Open discussion and Q&A
