International Exchange and Innovation: Highlights from the IT:U Summer School 2025
The IT:U Summer School 2025 on Natural Language Processing took place on July 25–26 at Infineon Technologies Austria in Linz, bringing together a vibrant mix of researchers, students, and industry professionals from around the world.
With 78 participants from 15 countries, 16 invited speakers, and four grant-supported students, the event offered two immersive days of interdisciplinary learning, exchange, and networking.
Hosted at Infineon Linz, the summer school combined a professional, well-equipped venue with a welcoming atmosphere for lively academic dialogue.
The two-day program featured a carefully curated mix of talks, tutorials, and discussions — all geared toward advancing the field of Natural Language Processing.
The turnout exceeded expectations, with participants filling the space with curiosity, collaboration, and global perspectives.
The lineup featured 16 invited speakers from 9 countries, covering topics from explainability and bias in NLP to low-resource language models and real-world applications.

As part of the program, a “Women in AI” social event provided space for women in the field to exchange experiences and build professional networks in a relaxed setting.
The atmosphere encouraged connection – from hallway conversations to post-session discussions. Participants appreciated the diversity of disciplines and backgrounds, which led to meaningful conversations and potential future collaborations.
