Dorian Arifi
Short bio:
Dorian Arifi is a Researcher at IT:U and a PhD student at Paris Lodron University of Salzburg. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, with a particular focus on statistics and behavioral economics. He also holds a Master’s degree in Data Science from Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, where he specialized in Database Systems and Artificial Intelligence. His research focuses on advancing geo-AI models and Natural Language Processing workflows to enhance disaster response and epidemiological early warning systems, leveraging the spatio-temporal characteristics of geo-social media data. As part of this work, he develops and refines distributed database solutions to efficiently scrape, store, preprocess and analyze large-scale geo-social media data for machine learning applications.
